diinker – we’re startiing a viideo revolutiion !

With the boom of online videos on the internet*, consumers have been faced with three major problems in migrating to Internet Protocol

Television (IPTV);

There is no centralisation of all video websites, discovering new on-demand video players is by trial and error

There is a lack of standardisation of video formats for different hardware and operating systems

The restriction of viewing video media solely on a computer or laptop, is disjointed from their normal viewing location. Many consumers now have a home theatre room, which includes a flat-screen HDTV. Some ‘tech-savvy’ consumers have connected game consoles (eg PS3, Xbox, Wii) or computer’s (eg, Apple MacMini) to their HDTV but this is not the norm.

Today we are proud to introduce diinker, an Internet Media Centre (IMC) which bridges the gap between video content from the internet to your game console, computer or HDTV.

“The idea of diinker has been developing over the past 18 months. The need for an IMC became evident when I searched for information on the recent death of Michael Jackson. At the time I went on free-to-air TV, but there was no detailed coverage. Not having cable TV, I then went online to look for any live video stream covering the incident, however this was hard as there was not one place which gave me multiple options. After many search attempts I found numerous video streams but I was confused as to why these were not consolidated into one website. I then realised there was a need for an IMC, and so diinker’s mission was established.” said Paul-Julian Dal Pozzo, diinker pty. ltd. founder and inventor.

“Currently,” Paul-Julian said, “the internet is reliant on you having access to a computer. But why can’t I watch live streaming or on-demand video on my HDTV? I then decided to create an application that would solve this. Using my game console, I could then access all the hundreds of video websites on my HDTV, in addition to my laptop, with an IMC. From there, I began working towards establishing diinker.com. Now I don’t need to have a TV antenna, cable or DVR. I can stream all my live video, on-demand TV shows and movies all from the comfort of my couch, when I want. I now have total control of the internet and what it can deliver with just a remote.”

diinker centralises live video from television stations websites, user-generated video and streaming movies, in an easy-to-use menu system that has been specifically designed to look amazing on your flat-screen computer or HDTV.

“It’s designed so you can operate diinker at a distance from your screen with a mouse or game control. You don’t need a keyboard, and the icon layout makes it easy to navigate”, he explained.

Unlike hardware-based media centres, diinker is purely a ‘cloud-based’ application, which means no space is used on your hard disk. diinker has been created so you can easily locate streaming live video within three clicks. It has also been designed for when your gaming console or computer is connected to your HDTV. When diinker is in full-screen mode, the black background gives you the whole ‘media centre’ experience with magnificent neon-coloured navigation menus, saving valuable power resources**.

diinker is simple and easy to use. It has the appearance of a purchased media centre application, however diinker is FREE and works over the internet in any web browser. I was inspired by Apple’s software look, feel and functionality of the iPhone, so it looks great on my iMac as well.”

“Everyone was waiting for a piece of hardware which would marry IPTV to your HDTV. Yet, you already have a game console or computer which can already attach to your television, so the solution really is the software, and this is where diinker delivers”, he concluded.

All content on diinker is legal*** and freely available on the web. However instead of logging into each individual website and searching for live video, diinker gives you options, to show you either the live stream or the website, through it’s unique ‘icon layout’ system. Think of diinker as giving you a visual representation of a video search. So rather than text filling your screen with search results, diinker displays the company’s logo and brands instead.

diinker currently presents live streaming video from over 150 providers and over 100 on-demand video websites, ranging from television stations, user-content and movie providers, in a format that is familiar and visually pleasing to the eye. As diinker grows and expands, it will encompass more providers and centralise all video content providers, becoming a one-stop shop for internet television.

The diinker website can be found at www.diinker.com. It is now available for the United States, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland.

IPTV is the way of the future, and the way the consumer accesses the truly wonderful world of internet television, is through diinker
